Bitumen Supply & Sourcing: 60/70, 80/100 & VG Grades
Bitumen sourcing starts with the applicable test method and destination standard, not only a grade label. Penetration, softening point, ductility, solubility, flash point, loss on heating and viscosity requirements should be aligned before price and packing are compared.
Specification checklist for the RFQ
- Penetration 60/70 and 80/100
- VG10, VG30, VG40 or destination equivalent
- Softening point, ductility and solubility
- Flash point, viscosity and loss on heating
Applications and end-use context
- Road paving and asphalt production
- Airport and heavy-duty pavements
- Waterproofing and industrial applications
- Blending to destination-specific standards
Delivery structure and logistics
Bulk heated tanker, bitutainer, jumbo bag, steel drum and smaller packing each create different heating, discharge, storage and freight requirements. Destination climate, port equipment and inland delivery should be checked before choosing FOB, CFR or CIF.
Prices shown on the site are public market references only. An executable indication depends on specification, origin, destination, Incoterm, freight, insurance and payment structure.
Documents and commercial inputs
- Destination standard and accepted test method
- Recent COA and inspection expectation
- Packing, pallet and net-weight requirement
- Discharge temperature and storage capability
How the inquiry is reviewed
Define product, grade, quantity, destination and timing.
Review specification, documents, logistics assumptions and compliance points.
Where appropriate, summarise possible sourcing or freight routes for the next commercial discussion.
Frequently asked questions
Is penetration 60/70 the same as VG30?
They can overlap in some applications but are defined by different grading systems and tests. The destination specification should decide acceptance.
Why can packed and bulk bitumen prices differ greatly?
Packing material, heating, filling, container payload, port handling and inland logistics can materially change the delivered cost.
